The Aga Khan Academy, Nairobi – Senior School has an opening for the position of: Science Teacher.
Role Summary
The Science Teacher reports to the Head of Department (Science). In this role, the teacher will teach Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics – as appropriate to specialism) within the IB curriculum at both MYP and DP levels.

Key Responsibilities:
Teaching & Learning:
- Deliver high-quality instruction, training and assessment in assigned science subjects, ensuring lessons are engaging, inquiry-driven and aligned with the school’s curriculum framework.
Lesson Planning:
- Prepare and maintain daily lesson plans using the school-approved format, integrating differentiated strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
Supervision & Substitution:
- Undertake substitution and other supervisory duties as assigned by Team Leaders and the Head of School to support the smooth running of the school day.
School Programmes & Initiatives:
- Contribute actively to co-curricular activities, school programmes and departmental initiatives as agreed with the Team Leaders and the Head of School.
Student Behaviour & Guidance:
- Implement fair and consistent behavioural and disciplinary practices in line with the school’s behaviour policy, fostering a respectful and supportive learning environment.
Student Welfare:
- Take a proactive role in promoting student wellbeing by offering guidance and support, liaising with relevant staff when necessary.
Professional Conduct:
- Model professionalism by maintaining high expectations of student conduct, appearance and engagement, while respecting and celebrating diversity within the school community.
The requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education Science.
- 5 years’ teaching experience in an international curriculum school.
- Teachers Service Commission (TSC) registration certificate.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with students, staff and external partners.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
