Clinical Officer – Aga Khan Medical Centre, Lodwar
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Taking history, examining, diagnosing, ordering laboratory and imaging investigations.
- Interpreting laboratory and imaging results.
- Treating patients’ common ailments at an Outpatient health facility.
- Implementing Community Healthcare activities in liaison with other health workers.
- Guiding and counselling patients, clients and staff on health issues
- Sensitizing patients and clients on preventive and promotive health
- Carrying out surgical procedures.
- Organizing health management teams and convening health management committee meetings
- Assessing, preparing and presenting medico-legal reports and referring patients and clients to appropriate health facilities.
- Comply with the hospital Confidentiality and privacy policies.
- Manage the daily operations of the medical centre, ensuring efficient workflow and optimal patient experience.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate clinical and administrative staff within the centre.
- Implement operational policies and procedures to enhance service delivery.
- Prepare and present regular reports on the centre’s performance to the Head of Outreach.
- Address and resolve patient complaints and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution
- At least three (3) years’ relevant work experience.
- Current practicing Certificate.
- Membership registration to the relevant professional body.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Competency in emergency procedures e.g., BLS, ACLS, etc. will be an added advantage
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
Pharmaceutical Technologist – Aga Khan Medical Centre, Lodwar
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive and perform prescriptions’ appropriateness reviews and dispense drugs in a timely and accurate manner as per approved standards and procedures.
- Contact the prescriber and discuss any inaccuracy or illegibility in a prescription, document errors and communicate corrections with other inter-disciplinary team members.
- Verify expiry dates prior to dispensing medications to patients.
- Check and confirm that -each label placed on the medication contains the correct patient names & unique identifier, drug & dosage, quantity and directions for use.
- Compound extemporaneous preparations and mix certain intravenous medications as per laid down procedures.
- Counsel patients on drug administration and use of drug-related devices for optimum care.
- Maintain accurate and optimal drugs stock levels by following ABC-VEN guide, re-order levels and FEFO rules.
- Monitor Formulary drugs stock outs, slow-moving stocks and short-expiry stocks, and take appropriate actions other inter-disciplinary team members.
- Comply and observe the environmental health, safety measures and regulations by proper handling, storage and dispensing of medications
REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution
- Current Practicing License from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
- 3 years working experience in a busy facility, preferably a hospital
- Computer literate
- Able to communicate with medical professionals
- Able to work with a team of people from various backgrounds and training
- Excellent customer service skills and empathetic to patients of all age
Laboratory Technologist – Aga Khan Medical Centre, Lodwar
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive, process laboratory samples, and release accurate results in a timely manner following established procedures.
- Participate in maintaining and monitoring quality assurance measures, including internal quality controls and proficiency testing, to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain detailed records and archives of laboratory procedures, test results, and other relevant data.
- Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Stay abreast of new developments and advances in medical laboratory techniques and technologies through continuing education and professional development activities.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and standard requirements to sustain laboratory accreditation status.
REQUIREMENTS
- Higher National Diploma or Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognized institution
- Minimum of three (3) years working experience in a busy medical laboratory
- Experience in an accredited laboratory will be an added advantage.
- Registration with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board. A current practice license is mandatory.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent record-keeping skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
Nursing Officer – Aga Khan Medical Centre, Lodwar
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify patient’s specific needs and adopt a care plan as necessary to meet those needs.
- Prioritize nursing care for critically ill patients based on assessment data and identified needs.
- Ensure a safe environment for patients through adherence to infection control practices and other safety policies and perform timely safety checks.
- Ensure documentation of all assessment data, investigation results, care given, discussions with the multidisciplinary team, family/patient interactions in an accurate, comprehensive and timely manner.
- Participate in nursing education activities, quality improvement projects, audits, spot, and skill checks.
- Participate in data collection and monitoring of department’s quality indicators.
- Carry out audits on IPSG, Infection prevention measures and documentation and actions on identified gaps.
- Uphold statutory regulations as required by Nursing Council of Kenya and the laws of Kenya.
- Safeguard the Hospital’s and patients’ confidential information and property.
REQUIREMENTS
- KRCHN, BSc. Nursing
- Valid Nursing practice license
- At least 2 years of work experience.
- BLS certified.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, administrative & customer care skills.
- Be a member of a professional body
