Position Overview
The Fabrication Engineer is responsible for coordinating, planning, and optimizing all activities related to sheet metal fabrication. This role ensures that designs are manufacturable, processes are efficient, quality standards are met, and production targets are achieved. The engineer serves as the primary liaison between engineering, production, quality, and warehousing teams.

Key Responsibilities
Production Coordination & Planning
- Oversee and coordinate daily sheet metal fabrication operations, including cutting, bending, forming, punching, and welding.
- Develop and maintain production schedules to meet project timelines.
- Ensure appropriate resource allocation (labor, machines, tools, and materials).
- Track job status, resolve bottlenecks, and provide technical support on the shop floor.
Process Engineering & Optimization
- Evaluate and improve fabrication workflows, tooling, and machine utilization.
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all sheet metal fabrication processes.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to cost, throughput, and product quality.
Technical Support & Engineering Interface
- Review engineering drawings and 3D models to ensure manufacturability.
- Advise on sheet metal material selection, thickness, tolerances, and fabrication feasibility.
- Create or refine flat patterns, nesting layouts, and fabrication instructions.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure fabricated components meet dimensional accuracy, structural integrity, and finish requirements.
- Work with the quality team to develop inspection plans, tolerance guidelines, and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Maintain compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
Warehousing Coordination
- Support sourcing of sheet metal materials, hardware, and outsourced fabrication services.
- Evaluate suppliers based on capability, quality, and performance.
- Review and approve vendor-produced sheet metal parts.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate production documentation, technical specifications, and process change logs.
- Prepare performance reports, capacity analyses, and cost assessments.
- Ensure that all fabrication data is correctly captured in odoo system.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Diploma/ degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- 2–5+ years of experience in sheet metal fabrication engineering or a related manufacturing role.
