Job Purpose

    To provide professional counseling services and coordinating the development, implementation, and evaluation of guidance and counseling programs to promote mental wellness and support staff well-being within the Hospital.

    Duties and responsibilities

    Reporting to the Deputy Director, Human Resource Management and Development, the position holder will be responsible for the following:

    • Delivering professional counseling services to staff and offering psychological support as needed.
    • Coordinating the implementation and review of counseling policies, procedures, and standards.
    • Developing and implementing guidance and counseling projects and programs across the hospital.
    • Designing strategies for psychological interventions to address staff mental health needs.
    • Monitoring and evaluating counseling programs and preparing reports for management.
    • Maintaining accurate and confidential records related to counseling services.
    • Organizing sessions, seminars, and workshops on mental health and wellness in collaboration with the mental health department.
    • Planning and budgeting for counseling activities and programs.
    • Any other duty as may be assigned.

    Key Qualifications and Experience Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Counselling Psychology or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
    • At least six (6) years relevant work experience, three (3) of which should have been in the grade of Counsellor I or in a comparable position.
    • Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks.
    • Registration by the Kenya Counselling and Psychological Association (KCPA).
    • Proficiency in computer applications.
    • Compliance with Chapter six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.
