Job Overview
To efficiently operate cutting and stitching machines to produce high-quality finished products, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to production schedules, while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Machine Operation:
- Set up, operate, and monitor cutting machines (manual or automatic) and stitching/sewing machines.
- Ensure proper handling and positioning of materials before cutting or stitching.
- Adjust machine settings (speed, tension, stitch length) according to material specifications.
Cutting:
- Accurately cut fabric, textile, or material according to patterns, templates, or production orders.
- Minimize material wastage and ensure precision in dimensions.
Stitching/Sewing:
- Stitch or sew materials according to design specifications, ensuring strong, even, and clean seams.
- Operate specialized machines (overlock, lockstitch, chain stitch, etc.) as required.
- Inspect stitching quality during and after operation.
Quality Control:
- Check finished products for defects such as uneven stitching, loose threads, or incorrect dimensions.
- Report defects or inconsistencies to the supervisor.
- Maintain production quality standards at all times.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and basic maintenance of machines.
- Identify and resolve minor mechanical issues; report major faults to maintenance team.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE.
- Ensure a clean and organized work area to prevent accidents.
- Comply with company standards, production procedures, and safety regulations.
Record Keeping and Reporting:
- Maintain production logs, including quantities cut, stitched, and machine performance.
- Report production output and machine issues to supervisors.
